‘Disposable’ ideas

key scenes –

  • west bay with Paige (5th of may)
  • scrapyard with Gaby (30th of April)
  • Glasto abandoned brick building with Molly (29th of April) bring mirror and lazer
  • Bridgwater and inside car with Abi (Thursdays)

meaning – The story behind the song is about feeling replaceable. The acting in the video will be based on putting their guard up. to do this, I will be including some kind of gate/guard….

Why the audience will watch it – Mainly fans of Turner UK will be interested in seeing the song in a different light and visualising each lyric and delivering the story.

  • props – drone, mirror, light source (lazer/solid colour) and plane/jet.
  • costume – the actresses will be wearing bright colours. this will give the effect as though they are wearing masks and hiding their personalities and emotions however the acting will link to the feeling of disposability. I will also be delivering this meaning through the make-up aswell.
  • make-up – The actresses I have chosen for the miming shots are experienced with make-up therefore I have asked them to be creative and experiment with colours, eyeliner to create the dark feeling throughout the video and feeling un-natural.
  • shots/angles – I will experiment a lot more than my previous videos; cut to black, slow clip when actor is in motion. this will make the clip seem smoother and faster. I will also includes some high quality close-ups. VFX shots will include colour grading, fire and the final shot will involve the actor/actress walking across a cliff.
  • techniques
  • characters/actors – Molly Dunster, Abigail Mckenzie Dawson, Paige Chorley and gaby sorgente.
  • location – I will film the majority in Street and Glastonbury however I am also filming in Yeovilton air museum or western antique aeroplane museum, west bay and Shapwick will be good for some drone shots. scrapyard(info@johnsonmetals.co.uk
    01278 422 595),
  • what will they do?

How?: I will be driving to West bay, JC Thomson and sons, Glastonbury, bridgwater.

Shooting schedule

influences or references – Sigur Ros is the main influence

visual ideas – i am hoping to film in at least 3 locations which have some connection to the lyrics. I will deliver the idea and meaning of the song metaphorically rather than physically however this will also come across in the make-up/costume and aesthetic throughout the entirety of the video.

Animal magic – production plan P2

Learners produce competent production materials for use in a 5-minute segment of an original TV programme –

setting up appropriate equipment – Being such a small amount of footage, i was surprised with how much actually didn’t go to plan for example,

  • I had booked the studio for 9:45 – 11:30 am and we had planned for matt to arrive for about 10:30 however i simply wanted Matt (narrator) to introduce the show. I didn’t want a strict line by line opening sequence therefore i talked to matt about being energetic, expressive, loud and clear but the walk in wasn’t as fast and snappy as i had planned.
  • I had also planned for the background of the shot to be busy and full of the sample material, screenshots of the edit but i couldn’t get my hands on the pictures i had taken similar to the poster therefore this empty background was what i was left with… in the picture on the right, you can see me looking into the view finder, limning the poster up with the camera angle. it looked slightly odd seeing it from this side however it did appear better in shot.
  • I had also asked Dan (Technician) for a cradle and a clip on filter for the mic but he wasn’t able to find it in the end, therefore the shot design i had drawn before hand didn’t look anything like it. DSC_0008.JPG

Platform 1 evaluation

Overall I would say that it went very well, we managed to film in less than an hour however we had trouble getting into a case which we needed for sound therefore because I was originally given the role of sound, I ended up using the cameras mic instead of juggling the boom and the camera. I think this happened for he best because eve though the sound was quieter than we had hoped it to be, I think that if i were to have directed and filmed whilst holding the boom, the footage wouldn’t have turned out the way it did.

If I were to have changed anything, I would have liked to film a short clip at college to introduce the story a little more and I would have also decreased the ISO before filming because after i added the effects on final cut, I realised that the majority of the intro was washed out.

I would say the the stronger elements of the production would have to be the script, location and time management. We both agreed that if we were to film at the railway station then a stronger genre to use would be crime drama as it links well with the whole atmosphere and feel of the production. Being the quick shots of the trains shooting past, the public starring on the opposite platform and the cold aura which was mainly due to the ISO setting, the empty feel of the station and the effect I used (Bleach Bypass).

Given the amount of time we had to plan, film and edit I think we did a pretty good job.

Genre – Murder Mystery gone wrong.

Location – Bridgwater Railway Station

a) operating model

b) product types – (need more about how they fit in the UK.Stars, directors, locations, narrative themes etc.)

c) modes of delivery

d) programme content

e) production process

f) audience profile – (add an act; breakdown of who channel 4 is aimed at) channel 4 is aimed at a target audience of 16-34 and 55+ however channel 4 viewers are younger and more upmarket than other commercial broadcasters, the is because younger viewers are more drawn to TV shows where drugs, sex.. are introduced. An audience between the age of 16-34 is above average. The majority of Channel 4’s audience is female. Channel 4 is also the most talked about commercial TV channel for 16-34.

g) distribution – (missing all the ways channel 4 gets the shows to the public. Rewrite “we licence)

h) regulatory bodies

treatment –

suggested cast – (needs to be more succinct. How will you make it more funny)

target audience – need more details, what kind if shows do they watch

budget funding –

a) I have been commissioned by the local council to make an audio visual slide show which illustrates a feature or destination in my area for visitors. this will be used as a give-away DVD for visitors and in the council office reception and tourist centre as a slide show. The production should be no longer than 2minutes

b) Theme for photoshoot – The Tor. I will be taking pictures for every 5 steps to be able to show the journey as well as the tor itself.

c) relevant equipment, props, costumes – because this particular topic is based around tourist attraction, it is known to be busy therefore i will be choosing a quiet time to shoot however this means that the morning (around 9am) will be foggy, wet and dark. To counteract these problems, i will experiment with the ISO and aperture, wear suitable clothing, bring an umbrella if necessary, take extra camera batteries and set the ISO to at least 200….this depends on the conditions on the day. my camera is obviously essential.

d) recce of shoot location – Glastonbury-Tor-5590.jpg

Animal magic – Production plan P1

P1 – treatment – In my T.V show I will be filming a large variety of animals but to make the show entertaining and funny the animals will need to be expressive so when it comes to recording the voice overs, the actors will have to relate to the animal in order to produce a high quality show.

Script – my plan for the script is to use the animals reactions and then go from there.

Angles – bearing in mind there will probably be a gate/fence in the way and i wont be able/allowed to climb over it, so i will keep the shoulder mount eye level with the cows, horses and with the geese i will need to film from a birds-eye view.

Actors/Casting – the animals i plan to film will be cows, water buffalos, geese and a horse.

Location – west country water buffalo farm (Illchester, yeovil, BA22 8LS) & Farm (Mostertone Road, Mistertone, Crewkerne, Somerset TA18 8NT)

script –

Timing Character name Accent of character Personality of charcater Maybe mention… Dialogue
00:13 n/a n/a n/a
 00:16:26 Benji n/a n/a
  00:23:23 norman n/a n/a

storyboard –

set design – To introduce the show, i wanted a simple background with matt in the focal point and a poster in shot. I liked the green screen in the background to begin because it linked with the poster however i felt it would draw the audience away from the poster and i didn’t like the shadows when matt walks away.

daily shooting schedule – 4th and 5th of Jan….contingency plan – 18th and 19th of Jan.

shots – point of view shots, close-ups and long shots and extreme close-ups.

Sound was recorded with the internal camera audio because i know i wont use any of the audio when editing. my plan is to detach the audio and then record the voice overs with Matt however there are also some recorded audio i might decide to keep like any louder animals.

Shots – close-ups, extreme close-ups and establishing shot.

Sound – i will also detach the audio from the footage when editing and then work with matt to then voice over the characters.

risk assessment – Screen Shot 2017-03-02 at 10.17.34.png

legal and ethical – To make my T.V show legal, I will make sure I will not

  • cruelly beat, kick, ill-treat, over-drive, over-load, torture, infuriate, or terrify any animal.
  • take part in the fighting or baiting of an animal
  • administer poisonous or injurious substances without good reason
  • permit operations to be carried out without due care and humanity
  • cause unnecessary suffering to an animal that is being destroyed to provide food for mankind
  • course and hunt a captive animal that is liberated in an injured, mutilated or exhausted condition, or course and hunt a captive animal in an enclosed space from which it has no reasonable chance of escape.
  • I will make sure everyone I film is happy to be filmed.

proposed scheduling time – I plan to film on the 4th and 5th of jan. This will give me extra time to plan, edit and record however if for some reason my plans change then I will film on the 18th and 19th. This will still give me 33 days to edit record and finalise the production.

Animal Magic // Opening sequence

Before I gather ideas for the opening sequence of Animal Magic, I plan to get inspiration and make a list of bullet points for what I am aiming to achieve in the edit.

  • Short (20 seconds at the most)
  • involve animals
  • modern
  •  edit as though the clips are in sync and link with the music.
  • maybe a time-lapse
  • Maybe funny
  • more creature comforts – less planet earth
  • not serious // happy vibes

The opening sequence will be filmed in the T.V studio with Matt. I am aiming to edit at least 10seconds worth of footage to create a really snappy video.

The set design ideas –

simple design – one shot – one angle – background poster
wide shot – busy with mic’s –
side on – 3 angles – fast edit –
pictures behind matt – animals – bright aesthetic – at least 4 lights –

final shoot

short film // music video

  • night life
  • city // country side
  • background lighting
  • underground car park
  • Brick walls
  • country lanes
  • Mirrors
  • Street football club
  • Glastonbury tor at night

Song – September song by JP cooper

actors? – 1girl 1guy?

  • Beth Jones
  • Abigail McKenzie-Dawson
  • Gabriella Sorgente
  • jade basta

  • Treatment – The song is about a lost relationship with both of the actors having different views of the relationship.

To begin with, the idea I had was that one view would be filmed in the countryside and one would be filmed in the city to reflect their different opinions on the relationship however i will now be mainly filming on Glastonbury Tor with a few shots in street.

While filming and creating the storyboard, I imagine the main story showing the actors constantly crossing paths.
